On 30 January, the Nuttalls matched all the winning numbers in the EuroMillions draw and claimed exactly £61,708,231, splitting the £123 million jackpot with one other lucky ticket-holder from Spain. The couple, Richard & Debiie Nuttall, both aged 54, were on holiday in Fuerteventura when Richard received a message from the National Lottery claiming he’d won £2.60.
Debbie’s response? “Woo hoo, we can get a bacon butty with that.” But when Richard checked back later that day, he saw a very different message: “You’ve won £61,708,231. Ring this number.” From bacon butty to bank-breaking bounty, their lives changed in a blink.
